At Byro, we are a modern law firm based in the heart of Helsinki, with a team of 11 lawyers and a clear growth trajectory. We deliver top-tier legal services across our three core practice areas: Dispute Resolution, Technology, and M&A.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Associate or Counsel to join our M&A/Real Estate team on a permanent basis. This is a senior, independent role with real responsibility. You will have the autonomy to run transactions from start to finish.

The role covers a broad range of work, including:

• General corporate and contract law advisory
• Corporate restructurings and reorganisations
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Funding rounds and investment transactions
• Real estate transactions

You will be joining a team that currently consists of three partners and one associate, meaning your contribution will be felt from day one.

One thing worth noting: we do not currently have dedicated support staff, so you will need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves when the situation calls for it. If you have spent your career waiting for someone else to handle the printing, this might be an adjustment.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible, though we fully understand that senior professionals move at their own pace. A start date after the summer holidays is perfectly acceptable to us.

Must-Haves:

• Around 5 years of M&A and/or Real Estate Transactions experience. We value the right fit over a rigid headcount of years, so if you feel you are ready for this level of responsibility, we encourage you to apply.
• The ability to independently manage transactions and client matters under partner supervision.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Attention to detail: Accuracy is non-negotiable in everything we do.
• A proactive approach to your work: You take initiative, anticipate issues before they arise, and drive matters forward without needing to be prompted.
• A genuine commitment to client service: You are comfortable engaging with clients independently, and you take pride in delivering a smooth and professional client experience.
• Finnish: Full professional proficiency (required).
• English: Full professional proficiency is required. You must be comfortable drafting, negotiating, and advising in English on complex transactions.
• A good sense of humour and a team-first attitude: We work hard, but we also genuinely enjoy working together. If you can keep the energy up when the closing timeline slips for the third time, you will fit right in.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience in Technology law and/or Dispute Resolution.
• An existing client network or prior business development experience.
• Swedish or other language skills are an advantage.
