Metso IP & Tech Legal is part of Metso’s Legal and Compliance function. We provide legal expertise and support in all intellectual property-related matters such as global IP-related policies, guidelines, and instructions as well as IP protection, enforcement, and dispute resolution.

We are now looking for a third- or fourth-year law student to work as a Summer Trainee at Metso HQ in Espoo. The working hours are full-time, and the working period is 4 months starting in May.

As a Summer Trainee – IP & Tech Legal, you will:

• Support the team in various IP law-related matters such as IP infringement cases, enforcement, and dispute resolution
• Assist in corporate trademark portfolio management and brand protection
• Support in different projects such as trainings and presentations
• Contribute to the development of internal IP-related directives, guidelines, and policies
• Review and draft IP & Tech related agreements
• Co-ordinate meetings and assist in other administrative and paralegal tasks
• Support in communication with authorities globally
• Have an opportunity to work in a multinational environment and enjoy an innovative and supportive atmosphere
• Have versatile and challenging tasks in a global setting that will develop your professional skills and competencies

Who you are

• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn more. We are looking for a proactive individual with a can-do approach, who shows initiative, ability, and adaptability. You enjoy challenges and like working as part of a team but also independently.
• Genuine interest in intellectual property and tech law
• Fluent communication skills in Finnish and English. Other language skills and study exchange programs or work experience abroad are an asset.
• At least half of your law studies completed. Additionally, prior work experience in intellectual property matters (e.g. in a law firm, in-house legal department) is considered a benefit.

The expected monthly salary for our full-time trainee roles is between 2065-2875 euros per month. The exact monthly salary for each role is based on the candidate’s number of completed academic credits and job location.

Our Summer Trainee positions are primarily targeted at students currently studying at, or recently graduated from, an educational institution in Finland, as well as Finnish students pursuing their studies abroad. Please note that we are unable to provide work permits or relocation services for these positions.
