The opportunity
Are you a proactive and detail-oriented team player with a conscientious approach to your work? Do you have a genuine interest in the legal field and enjoy working in an international, business-driven environment? We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team in Helsinki and work closely with our lawyers across a wide range of tasks.

The firm
Bird & Bird is an international law firm with a strong focus on helping organisations navigate change, particularly in areas driven by technology and innovation. At Bird & Bird, you’ll be empowered to grow and succeed in a supportive, collaborative, and international environment, working alongside colleagues from across our global network.

What you’ll do
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our lawyers and contributing to the smooth operation of the firm. This position offers a broad range of responsibilities, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your professional skills. If you enjoy helping others, working collaboratively, solving problems and balancing varied tasks with routines and processes, this could be the perfect role for you.

Your responsibilities will include, among others:

·     providing day-to-day support to our lawyers and assist with opening new assignments

·     preparing, editing, and finalising documents, presentations and other materials

·     liaising with clients, authorities, and our international offices

·     maintaining and updating contact and relationship information in our CRM

·     coordinating meetings, seminars, and client events

·     handling monthly billing and invoicing tasks such as reporting

·     assisting with administrative tasks across the office

About you
Whether you are a recent graduate at the beginning of your career or already have relevant professional experience, what matters most to us is your attitude and eagerness to learn. Ideally, you have a relevant educational background, such as a BBA degree from a University of Applied Sciences or an equivalent qualification.

In addition, you will thrive with us if you have:

·     a service-minded attitude, determined to deliver high-quality administrative support to your colleagues

·     excellent communication skills, both in Finnish and English

·     a keen eye for details

·     an ability to work under pressure and to manage several projects simultaneously

·     excellent IT skills, including an interest in exploring legal tech and AI-driven solutions as well as good command of Microsoft Office tools

·     experience and/or strong interest in marketing, business development and event arrangements; and

·     a good sense of humour – we are serious about business, but we truly believe that working should be fun!

Your possible previous experience in working in a professional services environment, such as a law firm, as well as your interest in the field of business law, is considered as an asset.

What will you be offered?
You’ll be joining a welcoming work environment where we respect different skills and personalities, and everyone is encouraged to be themselves. You will be part of a collegial team of skilled and dedicated professionals. With us, you will also have the rare opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a truly international law firm, such as international trainings and Global Professional Development Programmes. We work flexibly in a hybrid setup, with our office in the centre of Helsinki.

We offer a comprehensive employee benefits package, including lunch, culture, sport and commuting benefits. The salary range for this position is approximately 2800-3500€/month depending on your experience, qualifications and educational background. Recent graduates can expect a salary at the lower end of the range, while more experienced candidates may be eligible for a higher salary, which will be discussed during the recruitment process.

This is a fixed-term position for approximately one year covering family leave. The role is expected to start as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

Interested in joining us?
If this opportunity excites you, please submit your CV and application through our recruitment portal by 6 September 2026. In your application, we would like to hear about your expectations for the position, how your previous experience would be of value, and your reasons for wanting to work at Bird & Bird. We will review applications on an ongoing basis and aim to finalize the recruitment by mid-October. As part of the process, you’ll also complete a short capability test and a language assignment.
